Notes
  • Pretty much all from the English versions of P3P, P4G, Arena and Ultimax, which are excellent localisations for their target audience but don't line up word for word with the original Japanese. (One major difference is in the use of family versus given names - in the localisation, characters are noticeably freer with the latter, probably because sticking to surnames in casual contexts doesn't sound nearly as natural in English. Another is the treatment of some nicknames to make them more transparent to an Anglophone audience, notably Risechie → Risette and Yukaritchi → Yuka-tan.)
  • Anything from Arena comes with the caveat that Arena is a clusterfuck, and some forms of address (mainly the crossover interactions and things involving Labrys) change a little from story mode to story mode. If unspecified, it's more likely than not from either the story mode of the character in question or a section where they narrate in Ultimax (which is somewhat less of a clusterfuck internally), but no promises.
  • The P3 and Ultimax side are woefully incomplete, because I don't care about them as much. \o/ They're coming, though. I've also got a PQ table under construction here.
  • Substitute in Souji Seta, Makoto Yuuki, Thor Thunderballs or whatever according to personal preference.

    "*" is a note I haven't written in yet :(
    1 note
2 Golden only, when Yu switches costumes (but not in any of the costume descriptions). It seems a bit out of place...
3 Joking only, and only in Arena, because we're not counting the anime. I look to Yu for some support, but he's clapping along with the rest of them. Et tu, Narukami?
4 Only in the first three or so days of the game, after which it's just "Chie".
5 Once only, second day of the game. Bleak-looking student And… I'm really sorry! It was an accident! Please just have mercy until my next paycheck!
6 Once only, sarcastic. Yosuke Urgh…! Well, I guess you gotta expect that… It's not like Chie-san's ever had the occasion to help a guy shop before.
7 Mostly early on. Switches permanently to "Yukiko" not long after she joins the team, with some scattered exceptions where he's making an effort to be politer (such as after fighting him in Yukiko's story mode).
8 Pretty much joking only (Yosuke Naoto-kun, Kanji-kun says he really wants you to be in it.), but also once when politely talking to Kanji's mother in Yosuke's Arena story mode.
9 Chie Could you maybe not talk about her like she's not here?
10 Once, before she joins the party, not to her face and not to anyone in the IT.
11 Pretty much joking only, even early on.
    12 Before the reveal.
    13 Inner monologue only.
14 Only in fights, never in dialogue.
15 Once only in her Social Link, when he isn't present. Naoto I'm sorry, I seem to have a tin ear for other people's feelings... Yosuke-san told me so before.
16 Only in Kanji's Arena joke ending. It's... dramatic.
17 Before the reveal, and also after it when speaking to him in person.
18 Talk to him in dungeons when the lab first opens and he may call her this before anybody in the party realises she's a girl. You can read your pet wild fan theories into this, or you can just take it as an oversight.
19 Originally only heard in Teddie's Arena story mode as a misunderstanding, but it appears again in Ultimax. Comedy!
    20 Only in person.

    Other characters
  • Dojima is "Dojima-san" to Adachi, Yu in Arena, Yosuke, Kanji, Naoto and probably everyone in the entire world apart from Nanako.
  • Nanako is "Nanako-chan" to everyone apart from Teddie ("Nana-chan"), Yu and Dojima (just "Nanako"), and a single instance in Yosuke's Arena story mode where Yu's illusion terrifies him into calling her "Nanako-san".
  • As a navigator in English-localised Arena, Nanako uses no honorifics for Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, Labrys or Aigis, but Mitsuru and Elizabeth get "-san", Akihiko is "Mr. Boxer", and naturally big bro is big bro.
  • Dojima always refers to Adachi as plain "Adachi".
  • Naoto calls Kurosawa "Kurosawa-san".
  • Kou calls Chie "Chie-san".
  • Naoki refers to Yosuke as just "Hanamura" before his Social Link starts, but "Yosuke-san" and "Hanamura-san" later on. Yosuke calls him "Naoki-kun" after meeting him.
  • Shu is called "Shu-kun" by Yukiko at L8.
  • Marie is plain "Marie" to Yu and the Velvet Room residents, "Emmy-chan" to Teddie and "Marie-chan" to the rest of the IT within seconds of meeting her.
  • Koromaru is "Koromaru-san" to Aigis, Naoto and Yukiko, although Yukiko also tries to see if "Chosokabe" and "Gengoromaru" get reactions out of him.
  • Everyone makes the distinction between "Sho" (no Persona) and "Minazuki" (with Persona) in narration, but Teddie also refers to Minazuki as "Minnie". Labrys refers to him as "Sho-kun".
