Rank 9 ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ Persona 4 • Kanji Tatsumi A good friend from the Investigation Team. Looks, talks and acts like he should be leading a biker gang, but he's honestly an earnest, hard-working kid who never seems to lose sight of what's really important, and a damn talented one. ...If kind of, uh, slow when it comes to things that aren't artsy or craftsy, and sometimes so gullible it almost isn't any fun... almost. Apart from that, though, there's no denying he's at least as tough as his image - definitely better to have on your side than anyone else's. Honestly, he's been doing damn well for himself lately, hairstyle choices notwithstanding - he knows what he likes, he knows what he's good at, and he's finally open enough about both that even people who started out as strangers are happy to back him up these days. However unwarranted it is, Yosuke can't help but feel a little proud. Besides, Kanji keeps on saving his ass despite having every reason not to; if Yosuke didn't take that as an incentive to try to do right by him as they learn to stand on their own feet, he'd really be letting the side down. (The keyword here is "try", and the other keyword is "Yosuke" - but seriously, the liking dudes thing has gotten a lot more awkward to prod at than it used to be.) Thinking back on how far Kanji has come since they first met, part of Yosuke has to acknowledge that he's kind of bitter, too - but after getting punched into the floor that one time, he at least knows better than to act on it again. |

Rank 7 ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ Persona 4 • Naoto Shirogane Improbable high school private detective, and yet another good friend from the Investigation Team. Though there isn't much question who Yosuke respects the most out of his closest friends, Naoto's a solid contender for runner-up - the kid's a genius, and the case would have floundered without her. (Yes, her! Ignore the name and the clothes.) This does not make her, for example, taller. Or less of a closet geek. Still, she definitely isn't as stiff as she tries to be; she could even be cute once in a while, if only she'd give up and embrace that a little. That, or Kanji. Either, really. Due to timeline shenanigans, she doesn't seem to remember what brought it on, but lately Yosuke is a little warier of anything that looks like her attempting to strike out on her own than he used to be. Aren't they a team? |

Max ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ Persona 4 • Thor Thunderballs Better known as Souji Seta. He certainly knows Yosuke, maybe even more thoroughly than Yosuke does himself. It's a cliché to say something like the moment he dragged Yosuke out of that damn trashcan was the moment his whole life changed, and maybe it didn't immediately, but... it's sort of true, too. Cool, collected, thoughtful, and utterly impossible to faze despite everyone's best attempts, he's everything that Yosuke has never been. ...Which is good, isn't it? Between them, they've got it all covered! Then again, Souji pretty much has everything covered all on his own. These days, he needs to be reminded to just breathe every once in a while and take some time off. The stress of being thrown into a place like this and discovering that their little foggy murder case could be taken much deeper than any of them had thought... Not many people would be able to tell it's gradually getting to Souji, but Yosuke can - especially as he watches his partner hare off on wilder and wilder schemes, war effort this and intel-gathering that, just to try and find his footing on this increasingly shaky ground. It's a lot to keep on top of. Every now and then, Yosuke can't help wishing he'd act more like it... Still, in the end, what matters is that Souji is a friend worth bragging about. Yosuke has his back however rough things get, and he's not about to let anything else shake his faith that Souji has his, too. That's what partners are for, right? |

Rank 5 ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ Persona 3 • Ryoji Mochizuki Cool, friendly dude with a neat scarf. As it turns out, he's a Shadow, and an even weirder one than Teddie - that's the most memorable detail out of all the exposition he ended up dumping on Yosuke in a fit of feelings. But that doesn't change anything about the first sentence, so hey, what can you do? (In fact, Yosuke didn't take it so well at first, but he did immediately realise he was in the wrong there.) He's a lot more sensitive than he looks, and honestly probably needs a hug, or would if that wasn't for girls. Even besides that, he bumped into Yosuke's Shadow and was still happy to save Yosuke's life, so Yosuke sort of owes him one. In the meantime, he and his friends have readily taken Ryoji under their collective awkward and unhelpful wing. In both their business dealings and more normal stupid teenage shenanigans, it's safe to call him one of the team. |

Rank 1 ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ Persona 3 • Minato Arisato A quiet city kid Yosuke ran into on the day he arrived. There's something oddly open about him. Said he was from Iwatodai, and a fellow music-lover to boot. Yosuke didn't see him for a while afterwards, but his name later cropped up on the network in the context of other Persona-users, which seemed like one hell of a coincidence - and a couple of months later, he reappeared, claiming to have no memory of Asgard or anyone he'd met there. Going by what Ryoji has said in the past, Arisato might be a lot more troubled than he lets on. Still, to Yosuke, the pertinent detail is that he is buddies with Ryoji, and therefore certainly a good guy. If unnecessarily harsh on other people's perfectly normal musical tastes. |

She strikes him as a bit stiff, not unlike Naoto, but that's the kind of thing he takes as a challenge. |

Rank 4 ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ Harry Potter • Hermione Granger A girl with a lot of obvious determination, and a love of animals - he first encountered her while she was looking after somebody else's His chances with her may be thoroughly shot by now (seriously, where the hell would anyone get the idea that he and Souji were...!?), but she's really friendly and she seems to like him enough to let him drop the "-san", so - never give up, never surrender! |

(He can't be any worse than a bear.) But he still comes across as a bit of a jerk, obliviously or otherwise. |

Rank 3 ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ Dangan Ronpa • Makoto Naegi "Naegi". Staggeringly inoffensive in every way. Apparently an acquaintance of Rise's (is that because he's Japanese, or did they meet here?...), which is how he wound up another unwilling participant in her date auction, and how Yosuke wound up meeting him, in typical stupid slice of life fashion... And then he died. Holy shit. Happening just as Yosuke was starting to feel a bit settled in, it was one hell of a wake-up call. He did get better, at least, although he didn't seem to get much brighter. Cool guy, all the same. Plus he's got hidden depths like the animal caring and mysterious detective sidekick past, so there's that. He's on the list of people the IT might call if they ever get a real case, on the off chance they need a pet dog for it |

Gives off a bit of a sheltered vibe, although it's tough for Yosuke to pinpoint why, apart from her professed lack of work experience (which isn't that unusual). She works at the Highwind now, and apparently is a rare specimen of a girl who can actually cook; Yosuke finds he'd kind of like to see evidence of that sometime... Also, typing properly seems to impress her more than the alternative. This, unfortunately, is something to keep in mind. |

Rank 3 ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ Youko x Boku SS • Soushi Miketsukami "Miketsukami-san" when he's nearby. A long-winded and self-effacing but polite man Yosuke has run into here and there. Collecting information seems to be his thing, when he's not just acting incredibly serious about marshmallows. He's even worse to talk to than Naoto, but apparently he's sitting on a dark past of his own. Yosuke has to feel for him a bit - even though he's never quite sure how much of the weird ultra-humble act is just for show, nor how much of it is just the guy dicking with people. |

On the one hand, he happened to save Yosuke's life back in Alfheim. On the other hand, the last time he saw the kid was when both of them were trying to turn each other into pincushions. Yosuke knows from awkward, and he's still not at all sure where they're supposed to stand right now. |

An adorable little girl who nevertheless appears to have her life terrifyingly in order - seriously, Nanako vibes all up in here, and it seems that most of his friends agree given how often she seems to come around. Super helpful, too. If he actually wanted a little sister, he'd want one something like Hibiki. She sounds like she's got her own problems with being able to measure up to other people despite everything, and he's not sure he wants to ask about the world she came from... but damn, that only makes her cuter. |

Rank 5 ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ ━ The Last of Us • Ellie Williams Hails from somewhere crazy and post-apocalyptic, but a pretty normal, fun-loving girl. Older than she looks, and has more blood on her hands than she'll talk about, but she can still occasionally act over-the-top innocent about the kinds of things that seem mundane to Yosuke, which he finds pretty adorable despite everything. The key thing is, whether she's really within his age range or not, she says she's into girls. And there's nothing wrong with that, probably. She most likely thinks he's a bit weird after one too many slips of the tongue, but he'd consider her a friend. She has her priorities straight when it comes to things like video games and karaoke, for a start - and, somehow, she wound up being one of very few people he's regaled with the whole story of the murder case back home. At the time, she told him she understood. Part of him really wants to ask. In any case, he suspects she's stronger than he'll ever be. But that's par for the course, too. |

A self-professed Persona-user who says he's from Iwatodai, making him the first one Yosuke ever encountered outside the TV. Gives an impression of reliable cool-headedness, possibly too much for his own good, but not entirely unlike a certain someone. Yosuke would cautiously like to trust him, if only because it sounds better than getting snapped like a twig; gotta give it some time, probably. |

Despite all appearances, possibly one of the most sensible, too; she's proven her dependability many times over, to the point that Yosuke almost expects her to have the best handle on things even in situations like these that don't remotely involve Personas. Allegedly, she was pulled here quite a while ago - people say this Traveller thing likes to dick around with personal timelines for whatever reason - but she at least seems to be doing well for herself, which is nice to hear. ...And she's cuter now than he ever thought she was just from TV, hee hee. (Did she really think that forcibly signing him and Kanji up to a date auction was much of a welcome, though?) |

Since she independently came up with basically the same plan as 2000 IQ killjoy Naoto, she's probably got a decent head on her shoulders; since they met while the entire city was supernaturally silenced, it's hard to say for sure. Still, it's not hard to say that her dress sense is pretty striking. |

He gave Yosuke a helping hand during the catpocalypse, and seems like a reliable sort of guy, even though Yosuke didn't fully appreciate that at the time. |
